When I lived in the dorms in college, there was a tradition of putting a big banner across the door of someone having a birthday. For years I stalled at giving out my birthday to avoid this, but I finally gave in. Sure enough, that year my friends had put a huge banner over about 2/3 of my door. They knew when my first class was and expected me to break the paper on my way out. But the paper never got broken. Finally, around supper time, my friends came to my room--they were worried about me being sick or something! They were shocked to learn that a hadn't missed a single class, or a meal. I managed to crawl under the paper while no one was looking to get in and out of my room. My arms were just long enough to reach the knob from under the banner. You should've seen the looks on their faces when I appeared on the other side of the door--banner still firmly intact! They never did that again....
A few years later, my roommate and I did the birthday banner thing to my best friend. Of course I was smart enough to get her roommate in on the deal and she called when Dawn was about ready to leave. We waited outside her room with a camera and got a nice shot of her in a nightgown....
Have you ever been ripped off? What happened?

A few years ago, I tried to buy a digital camera from ebay. The seller had a good rep and nothing but positive comments, so I wasn't too worried. My plan was to pay with Paypal, which has a $500 guarantee against fraud. After the auction was over, the seller contacted me saying he was having trouble with his Paypal account and asked if I'd send a money order. Ebay had always drilled into everyone that "your bid is a legal, binding contract" so I thought I had no choice but to send it. After I sent the money, I was unable to contact the seller and a few days later, his account was suspended and four other similar complaints had been posted to his feedback. What Ebay doesn't tell you is that changing an agreed payment method voids the contract! Had I known this simple fact, it would've saved me and five other bidders $500 and a whole lot of headaches and heartache. I filed a complaint with Ebay's fraud department, including the cashed money order I got back from the post office, but they only award $175 for fraud.
I saved up for that camera for two years, and losing all that money still hurts.

Instrumental guitarists have this category hands-down. My favorite is "Shake It But Don't Break It (Because If You Bruise It, I Can't Use It) by Dave Beegle. Some others...
"Dit, Dit, Dit" and "Seven In A Box" by Glass Harp.
"Prehistrobie K-18" and "Phlagan's Flow" by Phil Keaggy.
"The Stellazine Prophecy" by Mike Roe
"The Lust, The Flesh, The Eyes, And The Pride Of Life" by the 77's
"When It's All Over We Still Have To Clear Up" by Snow Patrol
"Tweeter and the Monkey Man" by the Traveling Wilburys
"Dance Of The Spider Monkey" by Fourth Estate
Check out some of those Beatles tunes for a good laugh, too.
What's one family recipe that you wish you knew how to cook?
My Grandma's apple pie. All of us kids and grandkids have tried to learn for years, but ultimately she took the recipe to her grave. It wasn't something she could explain or quantify for us--she just knew it.
